Our Lectionary readings for next Sunday, the third Sunday after Epiphany, are Isaiah 9:1-4; Psalm 27:1, 4-9; 1 Corinthians 1:10-18; and Matthew 4:12-23.

Brett Younger writes, "When Isaiah wanted to speak to our deepest longings, the prophet chose light as the symbol because he knew how dark the world could be." Speaking to the discouraged people of Zebulon and Naphtali, Isaiah offers the promise of light. Years later, "The hurting people of Zebulon and Naphtali must said, 'The world still looks dark to us. We have seen no great light.' Isaiah's response is, 'You will one day.' Matthew says that he has seen Isaiah's vision in the person of Jesus." We catch a glimpse of God's dazzling light, "When the light of Christ shine into the darkest places in our lives."

The Session will meet the first Sunday of February (2/1) after morning worship.

We will have our next OT Study the second Sunday of February (2/8) after morning worship.
